Things to Do Near Plaça d’Espanya in Palma: Places to Discover on Foot

Plaça d’Espanya is one of the best starting points for exploring Palma on foot. Located next to Palma Intermodal Station and at the gateway to the Old Town, it puts markets, historic squares, shopping streets and some of the city’s most iconic landmarks within easy walking distance.

This route takes you through some of the best places to visit near Plaça d’Espanya, gradually leading you into the historic heart of Palma.

Plaça d’Espanya is one of Palma’s main meeting points and transport hubs. Numerous bus routes converge here and, beneath the square, Palma Intermodal Station provides train and metro connections to different parts of Mallorca.

Its location also makes it an excellent gateway to the city centre. From the square, you can begin exploring entirely on foot and reach the streets of Palma’s Old Town within just a few minutes.

Just a few minutes’ walk from Plaça d’Espanya is Mercat de l’Olivar, one of Palma’s most emblematic markets. Opened in 1951, it brings together stalls selling fruit and vegetables, fish, meat and other fresh produce, as well as spaces dedicated to food and gastronomy.
